The final panel of the 24th Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty brought together writers Eva Baltasar and Susy Freitas on Sunday (26). The authors defended intuitive literature resistant to labels before an audience in the main tent.
Moderated by journalist Micheline Alves, the panel discussed poetry, maternity, desire, identity and creative freedom. Baltasar, author of the trilogy "Permafrost", "Boulder" and "Mamute", said poetry emerged as a form of self-knowledge. "Poetry was a way for me to know myself, to travel inside myself," she said.
Susy Freitas, the Amazonian author of "O Baile do Juízo Final", reported that her approach to poetic language came through sound and that the book was born from intuition and dreams. Both explored themes of desire and sex, with Baltasar rejecting pressure for activism: "I am an activist of life and writing."
Artistic director Mauro Munhoz closed the event with a brief speech. "Flip is not guaranteed. We need you to continue." The literary programming of Flip ended with this panel at 3:30 p.m.
