At the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest in Berlin, director Naoki Yoshida highlighted fan comments calling for Naoki Hamaguchi to direct Final Fantasy XVII. The remarks came during a panel with Hamaguchi, who is directing the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
Yoshida praised Hamaguchi's work on the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy during the event. He noted online comments from fans stating they want Hamaguchi to make Final Fantasy XVII, calling it the highest praise.
Hamaguchi replied cautiously when asked about the comments. Yoshida quickly interjected, telling him not to answer and sparking further online discussion.
Yoshida also addressed calls for remakes of other titles like Final Fantasy VI. He said such projects would likely require four or even five installments due to their scale.
Hamaguchi noted that his team has stayed together for the full trilogy, which is uncommon in the industry. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled to ship in early 2027.
