The 2025 Copa Libertadores final, played on Saturday (29/11), was delayed by 15 minutes due to the Palmeiras bus delay. The match took place at the Monumental “U” Stadium in Lima and ended with a 1-0 Flamengo victory. The goal was scored by Danilo with a header in the 22nd minute of the second half, from an Arrascaeta corner kick.
Flamengo became the first Brazilian club to win four Libertadores titles, in 1981, 2019, 2022, and 2025, tying River Plate and Estudiantes. Palmeiras had won in 2021, but this time could not respond. Coach Abel Ferreira acknowledged the opponent's superiority: “Our adversary was better, more experienced and knew how to handle this moment of tension. I think experience overcame irreverence.” He also criticized the refereeing for not expelling Erick Pulgar after a hard foul on Bruno Fuchs, which only resulted in a yellow card: “The referee was very sympathetic, didn't want to ruin the final.”
Flamengo coach Filipe Luís dedicated the title to injured striker Pedro and to the youth players killed in the 2019 Ninho do Urubu fire: “This title is very dedicated to him for everything he did for us.” After the win, Flamengo mocked Palmeiras on social media with posts including an urubu over a pig in a cage and references to Andreas Pereira and Leila Pereira.
With the title, Flamengo secures a spot in the 2025 Intercontinental Cup, debuting against Cruz Azul on December 10. The club accumulated US$ 33.24 million in prizes from the campaign.
