Supreme Court minister Flávio Dino ordered the Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday to explain within 48 hours the official status of deputy Mário Frias during his trip abroad.
The ruling, issued under judicial secrecy, asks Chamber president Hugo Motta to clarify the time granted for the deputy's mission. Mário Frias, executive producer of the film Dark Horse about Jair Bolsonaro, traveled last week to Bahrain and is currently in Dallas, United States.
The case examines the possible misuse of R$ 2 million allocated to the Instituto Conhecer Brasil, linked to the film's production company. Previous notification attempts for Frias on March 31 and on April 7 and 14 were unsuccessful.
On Monday an officer of the court could not locate the deputy at his Brasília address, where he has not lived for two years. The proceeding originated from a representation filed by deputy Tabata Amaral.
