A 32-year-old Miami man is in custody after police say he repeatedly slammed his 11-year-old niece's head into a wall during a dispute between children at a family home.
Aaron D. Culpepper faces a charge of child abuse without great bodily harm, according to the Miami Police Department. The incident took place on Thursday at a residence near Northwest 67th Street and Northwest 13th Avenue in Miami, Florida. Officers responded after the girl flagged them down while crying uncontrollably. She told investigators the argument began when her cousin took her shoe and she took his scooter in return. Culpepper allegedly grabbed the girl by the chest, gripped her shirt, and banged her head against the wall multiple times after his own child reported the conflict to him. Police noted a bump on the back of her head, and the girl was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Culpepper denied pushing her head into the wall after receiving his Miranda rights. His mother told officers that all he did was jack her up. He was arrested on Thursday and held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His bond was set at $5,000 following a court appearance on Friday.
