Fluminense defeated Bolívar 2-1 at the Jornalista Mário Filho stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Luciano Acosta and John Kennedy scored for the home side, while Carlos Melgar replied for the visitors.
The Copa Libertadores group stage match took place on May 19. Acosta opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the first half. Bolívar equalized at the 23-minute mark through a goal by Melgar.
Fluminense regained the lead in the 25th minute of the second half with a strike from John Kennedy. The Brazilian side dominated with 70 percent possession and 23 shots on target.
No red cards were issued. Fluminense will face D. L. Guaira next on May 27.
