Nearly 90 people died after a gas explosion at the Liushenyu coal mine in Shanxi province. Rescue operations continue with 27 injured receiving treatment.
The blast occurred on Friday night at the mine owned by Tongzhou Group. A total of 247 workers were on duty at the time of the accident.
Survivor Wang Yong said he heard no sound but suddenly saw thick smoke fill the area. He lost consciousness after trying to warn others.
President Xi Jinping ordered full efforts to treat the injured and investigate the cause. Mine officials have been detained as the probe continues.
