Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated that Gerrit Cole may be activated during the team's current homestand at Yankee Stadium. Cole recently hit 99.6 mph in a Triple-A rehab start. The decision will be made after discussions over the next day or two.
Boone noted that the team needed an extra arm for Monday's game but is evaluating Cole's readiness. Cole threw 86 pitches across 5 1/3 innings in his latest outing for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, allowing 17 runs over 29 minor league innings this spring for a 4.66 ERA. If activated soon, his return could come Friday against the Rays.
