HK Malmö defeated Ystads IF 34–28 in the fifth and decisive quarterfinal at Baltiskan, securing a spot in the SM semifinals for the second time in club history. Captain Tim Hilding led with nine goals and four assists. Key figures included goalkeeper Ebbe Håkansson and several teammates.
HK Malmö dominated the fifth quarterfinal against Ystads IF, winning 34–28 (19–12). They led by five goals after ten minutes and at most eight ahead. Ystad never closed closer than four goals during the match.
Captain Tim Hilding excelled with nine goals and four assists. “All perform at top today and do exactly what they should. No one flies outside the frames. And then it helps that Ebbe [Håkansson] doesn't let in a single shot for ten minutes,” Hilding said after the victory. He noted he was well prepared for Ystad's play.
This is the second time in history HK Malmö reaches the SM semifinals. Nine seasons ago, the club went to the final, but since then, they have not passed the quarterfinals. “It is high, very high. But the job is not done,” Hilding said about the semifinal spot.
Key figures besides Hilding were Ebbe Håkansson, Isak Persson, Alfred Olsson, Hugo Stuivers and Nikola Roganovic. In the semifinals, they await the winner of the quarterfinal between Sävehof and Hammarby, whose decisive match is on Monday.
