Hong Kong has been named a host city for the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup, which will run from Sept. 21 to Oct. 5, 2026.
Hong Kong will co-host the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup alongside Jakarta, Indonesia. The tournament runs from Sept. 21 to Oct. 5, 2026, and features 14 teams including 11 from ASEAN member states. The Football Association of Hong Kong, China made the announcement on Friday. It marks the first time the city hosts an international football event under FIFA rules. HKFA chairman Eric Fok called it an important step that gives players more international experience. FIFA director Theodore Giannikos said the event connects Southeast Asia with regional teams and boosts fan engagement. The association also appointed Roberto Losada as head coach of the Hong Kong team on the same day.
