The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the registration of 90,020 new voters as of October 31, 2025. This was revealed on November 2, 2025, by commission chairman Erastus Ethekon in a statement to the media. Ethekon said the figure indicates good progress in the nationwide registration exercise that started on September 29, excluding 24 areas where by-elections are scheduled for November 27.
According to Ethekon, Nairobi County leads with 16,512 new voters, followed by Kiambu with 9,917 and Machakos with 4,026. Other counties registering over 3,000 include Mombasa (3,967), Kitui (3,552), Murang’a (3,330), Nakuru (3,265), and Meru (3,128).
In contrast, counties such as Tana River, Isiolo, Samburu, Nyamira, Marsabit, and Elgeyo Marakwet have registered fewer than 400 new voters since the exercise began, with Tana River at just 130. Ethekon expressed satisfaction with the overall number, noting it reflects IEBC's commitment to its constitutional duties.
“This step reflects IEBC's dedication to fulfilling its responsibility under Article 88 (4) of the Constitution to facilitate voter registration in all 290 parliamentary constituencies,” Ethekon explained. “Additionally, citizens are coming forward to transfer their polling stations and update their details on the voter register, showing they recognize the importance of this process that will enable them to elect the leaders they want.”
IEBC called on stakeholders to continue encouraging citizens to register, verify their details, and transfer to preferred polling stations.
