Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed the club's interest in signing Tottenham captain Cristian Romero. The announcement came after Tottenham's 2-0 pre-season win over Auckland in New Zealand. Manager Roberto De Zerbi also provided updates on several players' futures and fitness.
Ausilio told Sky Italy that Inter are pursuing the Argentina defender but described the potential deal as complex. "It’s definitely a deal we are trying to sign with the player and the club," he said. "These things take some time but there’s definitely interest. Let’s see."
De Zerbi spoke after Spurs defeated Auckland 2-0 at Eden Park on Sunday. He addressed midfielder Lucas Bergvall, who is seeking more playing time. De Zerbi said he will speak with the Swedish international in the coming days to decide the best path forward for all parties.
The Italian manager confirmed the transfer window remains open for Tottenham. He noted the club has already spent over £200 million on new signings this summer and aims to strengthen further. De Zerbi also gave fitness updates, saying James Maddison and Destiny Udogie are close to returning while Mohammed Kudus is nearing full availability.
