The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-6 in 10 innings on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. Iván Herrera delivered the decisive blow with a three-run home run in the bottom of the 10th. The win improved the Cardinals to 5-0 against Pittsburgh this season.
Despite going hitless in his first four at-bats, Herrera connected on a sinker in the 10th to clear the bases and seal the victory. He celebrated with a tarp-twirling gesture in front of visiting fans from Stephen F. Austin University, who witnessed their third Cardinals win of the trip, including two walk-offs.
