Senator Panfilo Lacson has denied reports of plans to convene a constituent assembly to amend the constitution for extending terms or changing presidential age limits. He called the claims "all BS" and "nonsense" in an interview.
Lacson said only very preliminary discussions had occurred on increasing the number of senators. Raising the age qualification was never part of any talks, he added.
Deputy Speaker Janette Garin and House committee chairman Jude Acidre backed the denial, labeling the reports "pure gossip" and "baseless conspiracy theories." Speaker Faustino Dy III said the House remains focused on 38 bills ahead of adjournment on June 6.
