Liam Lawson has spoken about the personal sacrifices his family made to support his Formula 1 career. The New Zealander described a childhood note from his younger brother that highlighted the emotional impact on his siblings.
During an appearance on the High Performance podcast, the 24-year-old driver recounted how his parents sold their family home to fund his racing. He also shared details of a card written by his brother, who is two years younger, when the sibling was five or six years old.
The note read: "Dear Dad, if I like racing, will you spend more time with me like Liam?" Lawson said he could never repay the sacrifices, which included lost time with his father and missed family holidays.
Lawson added that his brother now views the card with humor, though he himself reflects on weekends spent away from home. He currently sits 10th in the drivers' championship with 28 points after seven rounds, while his Racing Bulls teammate Arvid Lindblad is 13th with 13 points.
