Lil Uzi Vert released an eight-track EP titled Maverick “Almost Forever” on July 31, their 31st birthday, hours after their Lollapalooza set was canceled due to stormy weather in Chicago.
The Philadelphia rapper turned the last-minute cancellation into a fan surprise with the new project, their first release in two years. The EP features cover art showing a young Uzi alongside their grandmother.
Lollapalooza officials cited weather issues for the cancellation at Grant Park, where heavy rain and storms affected the area. Zara Larsson stepped in to perform the slot ahead of headliner Charli XCX.
The July 31 date holds significance for Uzi, who released The Perfect LUV Tape exactly ten years earlier in 2016. The artist had teased new material via Instagram Story in mid-July.
Maverick “Almost Forever” arrives as Lollapalooza 2026 continues through August 2 at Grant Park.
