Police in eastern England have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after a 3-year-old boy ended up in a crocodile enclosure at a zoo.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary said the toddler sustained serious injuries and remained in critical but stable condition at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. The incident occurred at Johnsons of Old Hurst, a zoo and farm business about 20 miles northwest of the city.
Detective Inspector Verity McCann said officers were speaking to witnesses to understand the circumstances. She added that investigators do not believe the arrested man and the child knew each other.
The force said specially trained officers were supporting the boy's family. No further details were released about how the child entered the enclosure or the cause of the injuries.
