Man assaults ex-wife with knee strikes at Guará Fair

A 39-year-old market vendor was beaten by her ex-partner at the Feira do Guará on Sunday (3/5). The aggressor, Augusto Cardoso Feitosa, fled after the assault, which was filmed by witnesses. The victim, Mirla Alves de Araújo, already had a protective order against him.

On the afternoon of Sunday (3/5), Mirla Alves de Araújo, 39, owner of a stall at the Feira do Guará, was beaten by her ex-partner Augusto Cardoso Feitosa. Witnesses filmed the man fleeing the scene after the assault. The victim told Metrópoles their 11-year relationship was marked by violence, threats, and jealousy.

Mirla had a protective order against Augusto for about three months after he broke into her home. Despite this, he started working at a nearby stall two months ago. Tensions rose on Saturday (2/5) when he posted insults against her and her family on social media.

While trying to speak with managers of Augusto's stall, the vendor was ambushed by the aggressor, who used a fire extinguisher, pieces of wood, and knee strikes. She suffered head blows, a foot wound needing seven stitches, and required care at the Instituto Médico Legal (IML). The case was filed at the 4ª Delegacia de Polícia as bodily injury under the Lei Maria da Penha.

The victim stated Augusto has a history of violence, including arrest for destroying another of her stalls and detention for a prior assault against her. As of the latest update, the suspect had not been located.
