A 30-year-old man named Sunil was fatally stabbed in a Delhi park on Wednesday afternoon after intervening in an alleged molestation attempt on a woman. Police have arrested one minor suspect and are searching for others involved in the attack at Khimman Singh Park in Ashok Vihar.
The incident occurred after a group of three to four boys approached Sunil and the woman, a resident of Jahangirpuri, inside the park. An altercation broke out when the boys allegedly tried to molest the woman, and one of them attacked with a knife before fleeing the scene.
Sunil, a native of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, sustained multiple stab injuries and was taken to a hospital where he died during treatment. The woman also sustained injuries in the attack. Delhi Police received a PCR call about the stabbing at 3.33 p.m. and reached the location.
A case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder at Bharat Nagar police station. Deputy Commissioner of Police Akanksha Yadav said one juvenile has been apprehended, and multiple teams have been formed to identify and arrest the remaining accused.
