Margot Hauer-King, co-owner of NYC nightlife spot People's, and lawyer Jack Morant celebrated their wedding on February 28, 2026, at Nine Orchard in Manhattan's Lower East Side. The London natives, who met in New York in early 2023, overcame a historic blizzard to hold their rooftop ceremony. The event doubled as a tribute to the city they call home.
Margot Hauer-King and Jack Morant met in New York in early 2023, quickly falling in love. “It felt obvious there was something very real between us,” Margot said. Jack proposed on April 4, 2025, at People's, surprising her with flowers and candles after pretending to head to the office. The couple chose a winter wedding for its snow potential, settling on February 28, 2026, despite a blizzard canceling flights three days prior for 50 UK guests. They pivoted to a courthouse visit and welcome party at Fraunces Tavern on Friday night before the main event Saturday. The ceremony unfolded in Nine Orchard's greenhouse with city views, followed by dinner downstairs and dancing back on the rooftop. “Nine Orchard was amazing,” Margot noted, praising the sweeping bridge vistas. The couple wrote their own humanist script with friend Justin, featuring family readings and guest singing. “Humanist and deeply personal, the ceremony was a true highlight for us,” they shared, feeling calm and joyful throughout. Margot wore a Danielle Frankel two-piece dress, her mother's earrings, grandmother's garter, and shoes matching her mother's wedding pair. At the courthouse, she donned her mother's suit; for the welcome party, a glam dress by friend Meredith Stoecklein of Lein. Jack sported a bespoke suit by J. Mueser, calling the process “perfect.” They handled planning themselves with friends' help and coordinator Andrea Ramos for logistics. A croquembouche replaced cake, surviving to the after-party at People's with mini hot dogs and drinks. “The whole weekend felt like a love letter to each other and New York,” the couple said. Sun broke through post-blizzard for a perfect sunset, enhancing the rooftop festivities.
