Rutger McGroarty redirected a shot 5:02 into overtime to lift the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 4-3 win over the Hershey Bears on Tuesday night. The victory gives the Penguins a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.
McGroarty’s goal marked his first career playoff tally. He tipped a Sebastian Aho shot from the left point past Clay Stevenson to end the contest. The Penguins had built a lead with goals from Phil Kemp and Mikhail Ilyin, while Tristan Broz recorded three assists in the game.
