Mike Preston, who played settler leader Pappagallo in "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior," died June 8 in Florida at age 93. His wife, Josie Preston, confirmed the death to Variety. Preston had a career spanning music, television and film.
Preston was born Jack Davis and achieved early success as a singer in the United Kingdom during the late 1950s with three Top 40 hits. He later moved to Australia, where he worked as a nightclub performer and hosted the show "In Melbourne Tonight."
His television credits included 42 episodes of the Australian series "Homicide," a recurring role in the soap opera "Bellbird" and guest appearances on shows such as "Ellen," "Highlander" and "Law & Order." Preston's film roles featured the 1969 movie "Stoney," the sci-fi film "Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn" and eight episodes of "Hot Pursuit" as Alec Shaw.
His final credit was a voice role in the 2002 video game "The Getaway." Preston is survived by his wife and two daughters.
