Minister announces budget increase for subsidized housing

Indonesia's Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait, revealed that next year's increased housing program budget will bolster subsidized housing construction. The target for subsidized homes rises from 200,000 units this year to 350,000 next year.

In Jakarta on Wednesday, Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait (known as Ara) stated that the increased budget for housing programs next year will support various strategic initiatives, including subsidized housing construction. The budget rises by 100 percent from this year, with the subsidized housing target increasing from 200,000 units to 350,000 units.

Ara emphasized the need for strong governance amid this significant rise. “The home renovation program will also increase substantially, from 45,000 units this year to 400,000 homes next year. Therefore, we must continue to maintain governance, transparency, and budget absorption effectiveness,” she said in her statement.

Additionally, the distribution of People's Business Credit (KUR) for Housing is planned to reach Rp130 trillion in 2025. Ara added that the ministry will continue consulting with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to ensure accountability. As of now, the Ministry of PKP's budget absorption progress stands at 74.56 percent, demonstrating strong commitment to national priority programs for providing decent housing.

Subsidized homes are planned to be distributed across all regions of Indonesia to achieve social justice. The government is promoting the use of assistance funds through the Sejahtera FLPP Mortgage Subsidy, managed by the National Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera). These initiatives aim to empower communities through affordable financing.
