Social Development and Family Minister María Jesús Wulf urged respect for the confidentiality of Haitian minors mentioned in a Contraloría pre-report. She called for activating measures while safeguarding their personal information.
Minister María Jesús Wulf, appointed by President José Antonio Kast, gave an update on weekend work regarding Haitian children allegedly entering irregularly between 2024 and 2025. She noted that the Investigative Police identified 33 of the 64 minors in the pre-report, who are with their families.
Wulf stressed that the focus must be on the integral protection of the children and the timely activation of administrative or judicial measures. “We call to respect the confidentiality and private life of each of these children and adolescents,” she stated on X.
Senator Karim Bianchi said that “everyone knew and today we are alarmed, but no one did anything.” Deputy Diego Schalper pointed to a “total fragility” of the State and backed the Government’s reaction. Children’s Defender Anuar Quesille recalled that since 2025 requests for information were made to Migraciones and PDI without timely response.
Gabriela Hilliger of the Jesuit Service to Migrants called for respect toward the Haitian community and less stridency in the debate. Municipal teams found 37 children in Estación Central, four in Graneros and six in Romeral.
