One week after initiating drilling at 24 borehole sites in Aceh Tamiang to restore clean water post-flash floods, the Ministry of Public Works reports significant progress. As of January 5, 2026, eight drilling units have advanced to depths of 70 to 105 meters, tailored to local geology, with some sites now operational.

Minister Dody Hanggodo reiterated the focus on clean water for health, worship, healthcare, and temporary housing, stating on January 7, 2026: "Facilities for worship, health services, and temporary housing must quickly return to normal so people can resume activities safely and decently."
