MSMEDA partners with universities to train new generation of entrepreneurs

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) is increasing cooperation with universities to equip young people with skills to start their own businesses. MSMEDA Chief Executive Bassel Rahmy made the remarks during a meeting with a student initiative. The efforts aim to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment.

Bassel Rahmy, MSMEDA’s Chief Executive, affirmed the agency’s ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its collaboration with Egyptian universities to encourage graduates to establish projects contributing to inclusive and sustainable economic development. He noted that these efforts align with MSMEDA’s core role in building youth capacities and supporting innovative ideas.

Rahmy’s remarks came during a meeting with the student initiative “Rokaz”, led by final-year students at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication. The initiative aims to raise awareness among young people about self-employment and highlight the economic potential of small and micro enterprises, particularly in productive sectors. He expressed MSMEDA’s strong support for youth-led initiatives, stating the agency is ready to provide financial and technical services to participants in Rokaz’s seminars and media activities.

The MSMEDA chief highlighted cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education as a model of effective institutional integration, noting the partnership has expanded through around 25 cooperation protocols with universities across various governorates, in coordination with the Supreme Council of Universities. The agency also participated, through a high-level delegation headed by Deputy Chief Executive Mohamed Medhat, in the “Commercial Banking Simulation and Entrepreneurship” day at the Culture and Science City. Additionally, MSMEDA took part in a special edition of an international forum organised by Senghor University, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and ICEALEX under the theme “The Future Belongs to Africa 2026”.
