White Sox first baseman Munetaka Murakami tied Aaron Judge for the Major League home run lead on Friday night. He hit a solo home run in the first inning against the Mariners at Rate Field, setting a new record in the process.
Murakami connected on a 1-0 sinker from Emerson Hancock for a 380-foot blast at 106.2 mph. The hit marked his first home run to left field in his MLB career and gave him homers in eight straight series openers, surpassing Eddie Murray's mark of seven.
