Rikuu Nishida made his Major League debut for the Chicago White Sox on Monday at Rate Field, helping secure a 3-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins. The rookie outfielder recorded an assist and his first MLB hit in the game. Munetaka Murakami also homered for the White Sox.
Nishida started in right field after being called up from Triple-A Charlotte. He threw out a runner in the second inning to preserve a tie and finished with seven putouts, the most by a White Sox outfielder in a debut. He singled in the fourth inning for his first hit.
