A sitting Nairobi MCA and two other suspects appeared in court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to robbery with violence charges linked to a June 26 incident in Donholm.
The three suspects were arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts. They face charges over an alleged attack on three victims in Donholm, Nairobi, during which cash and valuables were stolen.
Investigators say the arrests followed a probe that was forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions. Prosecutors described the circumstances as amounting to robbery with violence under Kenyan law.
The court granted each accused person a bond of Ksh1 million or cash bail of Ksh500,000. The case has drawn attention because one of the accused is a serving Nairobi MCA.
The prosecution is expected to present evidence when the matter proceeds to hearing.
