Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company announced a 24-hour water supply interruption affecting 17 estates and surrounding areas starting Saturday, June 20. The disruption stems from urgent repairs on a key pipeline. Normal supply is scheduled to resume at 6am on Sunday, June 21.
The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company issued a notice on Friday informing customers of the temporary interruption. It will impact residential, commercial, and institutional areas including Westlands, Lavington, Kilimani, Upper Hill, Karen, Lang’ata, Madaraka, Ngong Road, Kibera, Uthiru, Kawangware, Kangemi, Ruai, Ngundu, and Kamulu.
Parts of Ong’ata Rongai served by MAVWASCO and Oloolaiser Water Company will also face supply issues. The interruption is linked to a water leak on the NCT Raw Water Pipeline near the Kigoro Treatment Works.
The company advised customers in affected areas to store sufficient water ahead of the shutdown. Officials noted that the pipeline carries untreated water to the treatment plant and that prompt repairs are needed to maintain system integrity.
