Navy intercepts 22,870 litres of illegal diesel in Rivers operation

The Nigerian Navy seized 22,870 litres of suspected illegally refined diesel during an intelligence-led operation in Rivers State under Operation Delta Sentinel.

Personnel from Nigerian Navy Ship Soroh carried out the patrol in the Orashi Forest area of Okolomade Community in Abua/Odual Local Government Area. The team responded to intelligence about the movement of illicit petroleum products through local creek channels.

A wooden boat carrying 36 sacks of suspected Automotive Gas Oil was stopped first. Drone surveillance then located additional hidden stockpiles, resulting in a total of 81 sacks recovered.

The Navy also took possession of the boat used for transport. Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, Director of Naval Information, confirmed the details in a report issued in Abuja. All items were processed according to standard procedures against crude oil theft.
