Neil Young shared details about his next album Second Song during a July 8 Zoom session. The record will include new recordings of two songs he wrote as a teenager in the mid-1960s.
Young revealed the titles of the songs, “I’ll Love You Forever” and “Casting Me Away From You,” to subscribers of the Neil Young Archives. Both tracks were originally recorded with his high-school band the Squires in 1964 and 1965.
The new versions were cut recently with the Chrome Hearts in Malibu. Young said the songs fit well with the newer material on the album, which features several long tracks written earlier this year in Colorado.
Young canceled a planned European tour earlier in the year to take a break. His only public performance so far was a four-song acoustic set at David Suzuki’s 90th birthday concert in Vancouver on May 22. He is scheduled to appear at Farm Aid on Sept. 26 in Virginia Beach.
