Neon co-founder and CEO Tom Quinn spoke out against major studio mergers during a recent industry conference. He dismissed the notion of combining companies like Neon and A24 as unrealistic.
Quinn addressed the topic at the Produced By Conference held on the Universal lot. He responded to questions about the planned Paramount-Warner Bros merger and its potential effects on independent distributors like Neon. “The idea of putting two of those companies together — how you would you feel like if A24 and Neon merged? That would be ridiculous,” he said. Quinn also stated that he would not survive a day in a major studio environment due to excessive politicking and layers of management that prevent decisions from being made.
