The NFL will open its 2027 free agency period on March 9, one day after the scouting combine concludes.
The league announced the schedule change this week. Free agency will start March 9, 2027, following the combine that runs from March 1 through March 8.
This marks the first time in years that the two events are separated by only a single day. Other dates released include the annual league meetings, set for March 21-24 in Phoenix, Arizona, and the trade deadline on November 10.
The tighter timeline reduces downtime between major offseason activities. Teams will now evaluate draft prospects at the combine and immediately begin contract negotiations with free agents.
