Kev'Ronn Brown, 26, appeared in court this week on charges of endangering children with a specification of torture and cruel abuse. The case involves serious injuries to a 6-year-old boy.
Brown was arraigned Wednesday in Franklin County Municipal Court. He faces allegations that he caused the boy's injuries rather than a playground incident as initially claimed.
The boy was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus around 1:30 a.m. on April 18 with a fractured arm, swollen face and bloodshot eye. Investigators say the child later told them Brown beat him in a hotel room on April 16.
According to the account, Brown punched the boy, hit his back and shoulder, placed hot sauce in his eyes and mouth, and dropped him on his head. The child repeated the details to Columbus police detectives a week later.
A judge set Brown's bond at $800,000. He remains in custody and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 10.
