A jury convicted Rana Sievert of first-degree manslaughter last week for the 2022 fatal shooting of her girlfriend Brianne Torres. Jurors recommended a 35-year prison term, with formal sentencing set for June 11.
The verdict came after a trial in Oklahoma County court that included evidence of Sievert's post-shooting actions. Sievert, now 27, admitted during a police interview that she shot the 24-year-old Torres during an argument at their Oklahoma City apartment on Rockwell Avenue in the early hours of October 7, 2022. She claimed fear during a physical struggle but waited 60 to 90 minutes before calling 911 and provided no aid to the victim, according to court records.
