Capcom has confirmed a September 25, 2026, launch date for Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The title joins a crowded autumn schedule that includes many other major releases. Producer Akihito Kadowaki expressed confidence in the game's distinct features despite the competition.
The game was first dated during the Sony State of Play event in early June. Kadowaki noted that the team had already committed to the date and could not change it.
He acknowledged surprise at the number of titles scheduled for the same period but said the game's combat system, setting, and characters should help it stand out. The producer added that unique elements would support its performance in the market.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword forms part of a broader shift by publishers to avoid overlapping with GTA 6 later in the year. Many titles have instead clustered around September and October 2026.
