A Pennsylvania mother was convicted of third-degree murder in the death of her five-year-old adopted son after a jury rejected her claims that her husband was responsible for the abuse. Lauren Maloberti, 36, was found guilty on Thursday following a trial in Westmoreland County. She faces up to 80 years in prison.
The jury deliberated for three hours before delivering the verdict against Lauren Maloberti. She was convicted of third-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, and conspiracy. Maloberti was not found guilty of first-degree murder in the case involving her son Landon, who suffered more than 100 injuries before his death from blunt-force trauma in early 2023.
