Oscar Piastri avoided any penalty after being summoned by stewards following the Austrian Grand Prix. The McLaren driver had finished fourth at the Red Bull Ring but faced scrutiny over his reconnaissance laps.
Piastri and a team representative appeared before the stewards at 5:10pm local time. The inquiry centered on whether he had exceeded the time limit between the safety car lines, potentially breaching Article 12.2.1.i.
The FIA reviewed video, timing data and in-car footage. Officials concluded the car stayed within the required delta time and took no further action.
Piastri retained his fourth-place result. He had started seventh, passed teammate Lando Norris on the first lap and later overtook Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.
The finish moved Piastri to fourth in the championship standings with 80 points, one ahead of Norris and Leclerc. He achieved this despite missing the opening two grands prix of the 2026 season.
