Police conduct major raid against gang in Gothenburg

Police targeted a criminal network in Gothenburg with about 40 house searches on Thursday. The operation led to seizures of drugs, cash, and valuables worth one million kronor, along with questioning of around 25–30 people. Five to eight suspects were detained on drug and money laundering charges.

On Thursday, December 4, 2025, police launched a major operation in southern Gothenburg targeting so-called "enablers" in a criminal network. These individuals are suspected of facilitating gang activities by, for example, lending bank accounts and transferring money. About 40 house searches were conducted, and 25–30 people were questioned, with additional individuals interviewed on site.

Seizures included drugs – reported as around 100 kilos in one source and hundreds of kilos in another – as well as cash and valuables worth one million kronor. By afternoon, five people had been detained according to one report, while a later one stated eight detainees, suspected of drug offenses and money laundering.

"We are targeting the so-called enablers because without them, the main actors cannot operate as easily. Transferring money on behalf of someone may seem innocent, but it is what is needed to finance and carry out serious crimes," says Magnus Dahl, lead investigator in the West region, on the police website.

Another comment from Dahl states: "These are people who make it economically possible to carry out violent crimes and drug offenses." The operation aims to disrupt the network's financing and aid investigations into serious crimes.
