A 34-year-old woman was stabbed and killed by her partner on Monday in a home on Calle Andrade in Barcelona's Sant Martí neighborhood. Mossos d'Esquadra are searching for the suspect who fled after the attack.
Mossos d'Esquadra received the alert at 19:47 on Monday. Several patrols went to the scene and found the victim gravely wounded. Emergency services confirmed her death shortly afterward.
At least one of the woman's two minor children was present during the incident. The attacker fled in a vehicle that was later found burned in the Sant Andreu district with no one inside.
The Mossos Criminal Investigation Division has taken over the case, which is being investigated as a possible gender-based murder. The suspect is a man of South American origin who remains at large.
If confirmed, it would be the third fatal victim of gender-based violence in Catalonia this year and the thirty-second in Spain.
