1st Lieutenant Gedilson José de Lima Santos, 45, from Tocantins Military Police, died on Sunday (3/5) after 35 days in intensive care from severe burns sustained while frying fish at home in Araguaína (TO). He was transferred to a burns hospital in Anápolis (GO) but succumbed to complications. The force mourned the loss, noting his 20 years of service.
Gedilson José de Lima Santos sustained the burns in a domestic accident while stirring a pot of hot oil frying fish. Witnesses said he injured himself removing the pot from the stove. Due to the severity, he was first taken to a local health unit and then transferred to the Burns Hospital in Anápolis (GO), where he spent 35 days in ICU with a delicate condition.
His death was confirmed on Sunday (3/5). Originally from Marechal Deodoro (AL), the lieutenant leaves behind a wife and three children. Prior to the accident, he served as disciplinary coordinator at Colégio Militar Jorge Humberto Camargo in Araguaína, with about 20 years of service in various roles.
Tocantins Military Police (PMTO) issued a statement on social media mourning the officer's death. His body will be waked on Tuesday (5/5) in the music room of the PM Barracks in Araguaína, with burial scheduled for Wednesday (6/5) at 9 a.m. at Cemitério São Lázaro.
