A special team from Karur district police visited a residence in Chennai on Saturday as part of an ongoing probe into alleged obstruction of Income Tax officials during 2023 raids.
The team, led by an Additional Superintendent of Police, went to a house on Kasturi Avenue in MRC Nagar, Foreshore Estate. Officers learned that Ashok Kumar, brother of former Minister V. Senthilbalaji, no longer lived there and questioned neighbours before departing.
The visit relates to a case registered by Karur Town police against 50 unidentified persons. The case stems from complaints by Income Tax officials who alleged resistance and damage to an officer’s vehicle during searches in May 2023 at premises linked to Senthilbalaji, Ashok Kumar and associates in Chennai, Karur and Coimbatore.
Police sources confirmed the investigation remains active, with further inquiries continuing into the alleged hindrance of public servants.
