Revanth Reddy directs special teams in POCSO case against minister's son

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed the Director General of Police to form special teams for investigating a POCSO case against the son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar. The complaint was filed on May 8 at Pet Basheerabad Police Station.

The Chief Minister sought an explanation from DGP C V Anand for the lack of action since the complaint's registration. Reddy instructed immediate investigation into allegations of sexual harassment of a minor girl by the accused, identified as Sai Bhagirath.

The accused has denied the charges. He filed a counter-complaint in Karimnagar alleging that the girl's parents pressured him to marry her and sought money when refused.

Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that elders should either facilitate marriage or allow legal proceedings. He rejected claims of political vendetta by the Congress government against the BJP leader's family.

Women's groups have protested in Hyderabad demanding swift action. The case tests the state's commitment to handling complaints uniformly regardless of the accused's background.
