Motorists on the Ngong-Suswa Road face large potholes that have formed along sections of the 66-kilometre highway, which was completed in December 2025 at a cost of KSh 3.9 billion.
A spot check revealed several large potholes on the road linking Kajiado North and Kajiado West sub-counties. Some sections showed cuts prepared for repairs, but no rehabilitation work had started at the time of the visit.
Residents near the affected areas said the road has been in poor condition for months. One resident stated, "Imagine, for two years the road has been like this despite the billions used here."
The highway, in use since 2021 with full completion announced in December 2025, was built to ease congestion on the Nairobi-Mai Mahiu route and support trade and tourism. The Kenya Urban Roads Authority had not responded to queries on the damage or planned repairs by publication time.
