President Prabowo Subianto affirmed the government's commitment to strengthening the national fisheries sector. He said the boats would be distributed through fishermen's cooperatives, with sizes ranging from small to large.
During his visit to Gorontalo, Prabowo also set a target to build 1,386 Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih this year. The program aims to improve fishermen's welfare and ensure Indonesians manage the country's marine resources.
Prabowo highlighted Indonesia's achievement of food self-sufficiency. He noted that major investments in the blue economy would meet global protein needs while benefiting coastal communities.
The boat distribution and village construction will continue annually to reach around 12,000 fishing villages across Indonesia.
