Marjorie Dannenfelser told attendees at a Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America gala in Washington, D.C., that the anti-abortion movement must push abortion “on the path to extinction” or risk a future in which it becomes legal in all 50 states.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, delivered her message at the group’s gala in Washington, D.C., arguing that the movement needs to act decisively to shape the country’s direction on abortion.
In remarks highlighted in an opinion essay published by The Daily Wire, Dannenfelser framed the stakes in stark terms, saying the movement must place abortion “on the path to extinction” or face a scenario in which abortion-rights advocates succeed in making it legal nationwide.
The same Daily Wire essay cited new estimates from the Guttmacher Institute indicating that about 1,126,000 clinician-provided abortions occurred in the United States in 2025, a figure the research organization says is largely unchanged from 2024 and about 21% higher than in 2020, the last year Guttmacher describes as having comprehensive national estimates prior to the Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs decision.
Guttmacher’s count is specific to abortions provided by U.S. clinicians and includes medication abortions delivered via telemedicine, including those provided under shield laws. The organization says its estimates do not include self-managed abortions, such as those using pills obtained from outside U.S. clinician channels.
