Uppsala Municipality and UKK will reopen the renovated Vaksala torg on June 6 with Vaksalafesten. The square features more greenery, seating, and shade to serve as a meeting place for all ages. The event kicks off Sommar på UKK with free entry.
Uppsala Municipality and Uppsala Konsert & Kongress (UKK) invite residents and visitors to the reopening of Vaksala torg on National Day, June 6. The celebration, Vaksalafesten, launches a summer program with culture and activities on the square and around UKK until September 12.
Ahead of summer 2026, the square has gained more greenery, new seating, improved stay areas, and shade from trees and constructed features. The aim is a vibrant meeting place for daily hangouts and larger events, boosting the inner city's appeal and retail.
Vaksalafesten features performers including Malena Ernman and Labyrint. Sommar på UKK includes concerts, markets, and themed days with free entry. The program will be published ongoing at ukk.se/sommar.
The development aligns with the municipality's focus goal 2 and task 17 in Mål och budget, emphasizing attractive and safe public spaces.
