A man suspected of robbery died after a confrontation with an off-duty military police officer in the parking lot of the Centro Universitário Adventista de São Paulo in the south zone of the capital on Monday night.
The incident occurred around 5:41 p.m. at the UNASP campus, located on Estrada de Itapecerica da Serra in Capão Redondo. According to the Military Police, the off-duty officer witnessed an attempted robbery and reacted, leading to an exchange of gunfire with two suspects.
One of those involved was hit and died at the scene after receiving medical attention. The second suspect fled on an orange motorcycle, and searches were conducted in the area.
The area was cordoned off for forensic examination. In a statement, UNASP said the occurrence was recorded in the vicinity of the campus and that the situation is under control, with academic activities proceeding normally. The case will be investigated by the Civil Police.
