Beat writer Mike DeFabo says Roman Wilson will enter training camp ahead of rookie Germie Bernard in the competition for the Pittsburgh Steelers' third wide receiver spot.
DeFabo wrote that Wilson will clearly hold the WR3 role when camp begins. He noted that Bernard, a second-round pick, will chase the position with his versatile profile and potential for yards after the catch.
The 2024 third-round pick Wilson missed most of his rookie season due to an ankle injury that limited him to one game and five snaps. Bernard enters as a higher draft selection than recent Steelers wide receivers who contributed early.
Wilson worked with the first-team offense over Bernard during spring practices, according to DeFabo. The competition could depend on how quickly Bernard adapts and on feedback from quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
